Rename, resize and convert picture file formats
While using the ‘print screen’ bottom, I had many pictures with ‘bmp’ extension. The bmp file format may have its own advantages but the file size is usually many times higher than ‘jpg’ format. My interest of ‘print screen’ pictures was to view on screen only. Hence, I was looking to convert all bmp files to jpg files at once. At the beginning, I searched for the option but could not get any without downloading and installing ‘free’ or ‘shareware’ or ‘payable’ software. I knew that there was an option to convert bmp into jpg in ‘MS office picture manager’ through ‘export’ command. Then I came to know that it is possible to export multiple pictures at once. Just like resizing the pictures, conversion to different picture formats and even renaming the files at once is possible through this program. This program usually comes while installing MS offices so you don’t need to install new program. Here are the ways you can do different jobs.
A. Converting picture file formats (e.g., bmp to jpg)
1. Run ‘MS Office Picture manager’
2. Select the pictures from the folder or click ‘shortcuts’ menu to display the pictures of the folder you want to convert.
3. Select a picture with single right mouse click or while pressing ‘Ctrl’ press ‘A’ to select all the pictures. (Short cut to select all is ‘Crtl+A’).
4. Now go to ‘File’ menu and click ‘Export’.
5. At your right screen side you will see four different options.
6. Select the desired file format under ‘Export with this file format’ (e.g., *.jpg)
7. Click ‘OK’
B. Resizing the picture
Follow the process 1-5 of A
1. Select the desired file size under ‘Export with this file size’ (e.g., large, small…) or click ‘Resize’ hyperlink just under the heading ‘Export with this file size’ for custom file size.
2. Click ‘OK’ (if you have chosen ‘custom’ you have to click ‘Return to Export’ located at the bottom).
C. Rename picture files
Follow the process 1-5 of A
1. Type the desired file name under ‘Export with this file name’
2. Click ‘Rename’ hyperlink just under the heading ‘Export with this file name’ for different options.
