Solution to hidden and shortcuts of files and folders due to virus
If you are using pendrives and external drives to transfer files between different computers, you might have encounter different virus or spam problems. Either your drive infects other computer or other computer infects your storage device depending upon the existing infection. No matter from where the infection starts, the virus hides your files and you will only see shortcuts. The files are there in your drive but not accessible. The situation is not very pleasant so to recover your files, the easy way is just to recover them manually with basic commands (Windows xp version).
1. Delete all the shortcuts in your drive.
2. Delete suspected file if any.
3. Click "Start" bottom.
4. Click "Run" ( a run window will appear)
5. Type "cmd" without quotes in the command line and press Enter key.
6. You will see black screen.
7. Just type driver letter of your drive. Example, "G:" or "H:" or so on (without quotes).
8. Now just type the following command: "attrib *.* -r -s -h /s /d" (without quotes)
Now your drive will show all hidden files including folders and subfolders.
