Why 128kbps ADSL downloads only at 15kbps?

I am using Nepal Telecom's ADSL internet for the last few months. I have subscribed 128kbps as data flow speed. But when I am downloading something, I get a window saying about 15KB/sec (+/- few KBs sometime) as download rate. Technically is it right data rate or I should get 128KB/sec as download rate? Please let me know whether I am getting very slow connection or technically 128kbps means about 15kbps of download.

Actually 128kbps means 128 Kilobits per second so while converting it into kilobytes(most of us assume it to be same as kbps)it becomes 128/8(8bits=1byte)it becomes 16kilobytes i.e. what u r thinking as ur INTERNET speed (and about 1 kilobyte is lost due to distance and other problems) so what u r getting is what it should be,hope it clears ur confusion. Dhanyabad Funnycreep. I was really thinking that 128kbps is same as 128KB/sec as both have same abbreviation, written same (kbps) and sounds same. Now I am clear and what I am getting is of good connection speed. Again, thank you very much.

i dont agree with funny creep if you have taken 128 kbps, download rate should be around 103 or 105 kb/sec.
