Purple tomato

I have never thought of purple tomato earlier but when I receive a booklet from Wageningen University, The Netherlands, I was surprised. I have seen and eater red tomato but not purple one. According to the booklet, the purple tomato is developed by Plant research international and the John innes centre. They also claim that the purple tomato protects from cancer as that contains anthocyanins and lycopene which are antioxidants.

Yeah purple pigments are due to Anthocyanins. They have characteristics of reflecting lights of purple wavelength.
