Nepal telephone: Out going call facility is not available
You may have heard a message 'Out going call facility is not available' while calling land line telephone of Nepal from other countries. I hear this message more frequently these days while trying to call Kathmandu using international calling cards. I just wonder whether it is a problem of the card I purchased or of Nepal Telecom (NTC) technology. If the problem would be of card, the message should be in English or local language and from the card service rather than from the NTC . The message is from the NTC server and in both English and Nepali language. If I am calling from outside, why a telephone needs out going facility? instead it should have 'in coming call facility'. All the landline telephones in Nepal have incoming facility and that is free. 'The outgoing call facility' message should come only when someone is trying to call domestic or international places for which the service is not subscribed. There is no need of this message when someone is calling from outside. I just wonder whether the call is bypassed. I am not a technical person but is there any possibility of bypassing call when someone is calling from outside and making it internal call or calling it from the called number locally? The called number is trying to call back but that service is not available from NTC so it is broadcasting the message 'Out going call facility is not available'.
When I hear the built in message of NTC, I feel to request to make it more polite. For example, instead of direct 'out going call facility is not available', it could be voiced as 'Sorry, out going call facility is not available'. Similarly, instead of 'the telephone is not picked up, try again after sometime' we can make it more polite by ' the telephone is not picked up, please try again after sometime'.
