Cheap Internet by NTC Nepal

Finally, NTC is going to launch ADSL Internet service in Kathmandu. I am happy to read this news because dial up Internet has consumed much of my time and money. I was waiting for the launch of this service for long though other private ISP providers were providing 'broadband' Internet in Nepal for sometime. It was mainly due to the cost and the data flow rate. For 64Kbps, they were charging more than Rs 8000 for surfing during night time only. The new tariff announced by NTC might help to increase the Internet user and explore new jobs in Internet markets for Nepalese. It is also a good step to maximise the use of existing resources (telephone line) for different purpose without heavy/extra investment (telephone lines connection is already there) . The use of such lines by private Internet providers may further reduce the price while increasing the quality of service. Nepal has improved a lot in the communication sector and if it continues in other sectors (hydro power, road networks, medicine and tourism) then Nepalese will not be 'labour' in other countries. I read a news in NTC home page that wireless communication is available in all 75 districts of Nepal.

For your kind information, ADSL tariff rates per month is as follows (I think it is exclusive of VAT):
128 kbps= Rs 900, 256 kbps= Rs 1,500, 512 kbps= Rs 2,700, 1 mbps= Rs 5,000 and 2 mbps= Rs 9,300.

NTC ADSL is for only browsing sites. It is of no use for other commercials.
